地狱里的三个房间

一个人死了，被交到了魔鬼的手中。

“你将在这里度过永恒。我会带你去看三个房间。你可以从中挑选一个。”魔鬼说。

在第一个房间里，成千上万的人头朝地倒立在砖地上。

“我不喜欢这间。”那人说，“给我看第二个房间。”

在第二个房间里，成千上万的人头朝地倒立在木地板上。

“嗯。这里比砖地好点。”那人说，“不过，我要看看第三个房间。”

在第三个房间里，成千上万的人站在深及脚踝，满是蛆虫的垃圾堆里。他们正喝着咖啡。

“我选这个房间。”他说。

他刚走进房间，门就在他身后砰地一声关上了。

立刻，有个小恶魔的声音响起：“好了。咖啡时间结束。重新回到倒立姿态。”

注：人们经常根据有限的信息做出他们认为是较好的选择，但最终得到的却是较坏，甚至是最糟的结果。站着喝咖啡总比倒立着好，哪怕是站在垃圾堆里。但那只是暂时的现象。永恒的倒立才是惩罚，不管是在砖地、木板地，和垃圾堆里。

原文： Three Rooms in Hell

A man died and was delivered into the devil's hands。

“You will be spending eternity here，but I'll let you pick your own room from three I'll show you。”the devil said。

In the first room were thousands of people standing on their heads on a brick floor。

“I don't like that。”said the man，“Show me the second。”

In the second room were thousands of people standing on their heads on a wood floor。

“Well，that's better than brick。”the man said，“but show me the third。”

In the third，thousands of people were standing ankle-deep in a room full of maggot infested garbage，all drinking coffee。

“I'll choose this room。”he said。

Into the room he went and the door slammed behind him。

Immediately，the voice of a minor demon rang out：“OK，coffee break is over，back on your heads。”
