与将军的对话

那是一个漆黑的，有暴风雨的夜晚。一名海军陆战队队员正在站岗。那是他入伍以来执行的第一项任务。

一位将军此时正带着他的狗出来散步。

这位紧张的年轻士兵马上立正站好，敬了一个完美的军礼。

他像报口令那样喊道：“长官，晚上好。长官！”

将军出来遛狗是想放松一下。他回了军礼，说：“晚上好，士兵。这是个美好的夜晚，不是吗？”

其实，那并不是一个美好的夜晚。但士兵不能反对将军。所以，他再次敬礼并回答：“长官，是的。夜晚很美好，长官！”

将军继续说：“你知道，暴风雨的夜晚可以使人舒缓情绪。它真的会让人放松。你同意吗？”

士兵不同意。但士兵只是一名士兵。他回答说：“长官，是的。我同意，长官！”

将军指着他的狗说：“这是一只金毛猎犬，是最适合训练的狗。”

士兵看了狗一眼，再次敬礼并说：“长官，是的。是只好狗，长官！”

将军继续说：“我买这只狗是为了我的妻子。”

士兵简短地说：“买得好，长官！”

注：对话的场景并不涉及下级服从上级的军纪。但该新兵生怕出错，一直小心翼翼地回答将军的问话。弄到最后，还是出错了。“Got something for someone”既可以理解为“为某人买了某东西”，也可理解为“用某东西替换了某人”。显然，将军的生活现状是，宁可与狗为伴，也不愿与妻子同居。

原文： Talking to the General

It was a dark，stormy，night。The Marine was on his first assignment，and it was guard duty。

A General stepped out taking his dog for a walk。

The nervous young Private snapped to attention，made a perfect salute，and snapped out：“Sir，Good Evening，Sir！”

The General，out for some relaxation，returned the salute and said：“Good evening soldier，nice night，isn't it？”

Well it wasn't a nice night，but the Private wasn't going to disagree with the General，so the he saluted again and replied：“Sir，Yes Sir！”

The General continued：“You know there's something about a stormy night that I find soothing，it's really relaxing。Don't you agree？”

The Private didn't agree，but them the private was just a private，and responded：“Sir，Yes Sir！”

The General，pointing at the dog：“This is a Golden Retriever，the best type of dog to train。”

The Private glanced at the dog，saluted yet again and said：“Sir，Yes Sir！”

The General continued：“I got this dog for my wife。”

The Private simply said：“Good trade Sir！”
