选硬币

有个叫约翰尼的小男孩经常在当地的一个街角杂货店闲逛。

店主不知道约翰尼的麻烦是什么，但男孩们总是会作弄他。他们总是说他少根筋，是个傻冒。

为了证明这一点，他们有时会让约翰尼在五分硬币（5美分）和一角硬币（10美分）之间做选择。而约翰尼总是选择五分硬币……因为他们告诉约翰尼，五分硬币比一角硬币更大。

有一天，在小约翰尼选了五分硬币之后，店主把他拉到一边说：“约翰尼，那些男孩在取笑你。他们认为你不知道一角硬币比五分硬币更值钱。你选五分硬币是因为它个头更大，还是因为别的什么原因？”

小约翰尼慢慢地转向店主，脸上露出灿烂的笑容。

他说：“嗯。如果我选一角硬币，他们就不会再跟我玩选硬币了。到目前为止，我已经攒了20美元啦！”

原文： Dime or Nickel

There was a little boy named Johnny who used to hang out at the local corner market。

The owner didn't know what Johnny's problem was，but the boys would constantly tease him。They would always comment that he was two bricks shy of a load，or two pickles short of a barrel。

To prove it，sometimes they would offer Johnny his choice between a nickel (5 cents) and a dime (10 cents) and John would always take the nickel……they said，because it was bigger。

One day after Little Johnny grabbed the nickel，the store owner took him aside and said：“Johnny，those boys are making fun of you。They think you don't know the dime is worth more than the nickel。Are you grabbing the nickel because it's bigger，or what？”

Slowly，Little Johnny turned toward the store owner and a big grin appeared on his face and he said：“Well，if I took the dime，they'd stop doing it，and so far I have saved $20！”
