婚礼彩排期间，新郎向牧师提出了一个不同寻常的提议：“听着。如果你能改变婚礼誓言，我就给你100美元。当你说到我应该承诺‘爱、尊重，和服从’和‘永远忠于她’的那部分时，如果你能把这部分去掉，我会很感激的。”

他递给牧师一张100美元的钞票，非常笃定地离开了。

婚礼当天，到了新郎宣誓的时候，牧师看着年轻人的眼睛说：“你愿意承诺在她面前俯首称臣，服从她的每一个命令和愿望，在你的一生中每天早晨将早餐送到她床上，并在上帝和你可爱的妻子面前永远发誓，只要你们俩人还活着，你永远不会再看其他女人一眼吗？”

新郎咽了口唾沫，环顾四周，小声说：“是的。”

然后，他俯身对牧师嘘声说：“我以为我们谈妥了。”

牧师把一张100美元的钞票塞到新郎手里，低声说：“她给了我一个更好的报价。”

During the wedding rehearsal，the groom approached the pastor with an unusual offer：“Look，I'll give you $100 if you'll change the wedding vows。When you get to the part where I'm supposed to promise to ‘love，honor and obey’ and ‘be faithful to her forever’，I'd appreciate it if you'd just leave that out。”

He passed the minister a $100 bill and walked away satisfied。

On the day of the wedding，when it came time for the groom's vows，the pastor looked the young man in the eye and said：“Will you promise to prostrate yourself before her，obey her every command and wish，serve her breakfast in bed every morning of your life，and swear eternally before God and your lovely wife that you will not ever even look at another woman，as long as you both shall live？”

The groom gulped and looked around，and said in a tiny voice：“Yes。”then leaned toward the pastor and hissed，“I thought we had a deal。”

The pastor put a $100 bill into the groom's hand and whispered：“She made me a better offer。”
