一个不会打球的球手正在打一轮高尔夫球。为此，他雇了一个球童。

事实证明，这场球对球童来说有些费劲。他对雇主的糟糕球技感到有点恼火。有一次，球被打到了离果岭约180码以外的地方。

当高尔夫球手盘算着如何才能将球救回到草地内时，他问球童：“你认为我能用5号铁杆救回那球吗？”

球童回答：“最终会的。”

注：英语中的“最终”有两个词可以表达，Finally 和 Eventually。但它们的用法不同。Finally表示时间上的最后，带有被动的色彩。比如，旱情严重，今天终于（Finally）下雨了。Eventually则表示经过困难和波折才能最后完成，主观上并不希望这个结果延迟到最后实现。比如，经过长途跋涉，终于（Eventually）回到家乡。高尔夫球的规则是将球打入洞中的杆数越少越好。所以，当球手问能不能用5号杆救出处于危险区的球时，球童用Eventually来讥讽他。多打几杆终归会打回到草地的。

原文： Terrible Golfer

A pretty terrible golfer was playing a round of golf for which he had hired a caddie。

The round proved to be somewhat tortuous for the caddie to watch and he was getting a bit exasperated by the poor play of his employer。

At one point the ball lay about 180 yards from the green and as the golfer sized up his situation，he asked his caddie：“Do you think I can get there with a 5-iron？”

And the caddie replied：“Eventually。”
