一位老师让孩子们讨论他们父亲的职业是什么。

小玛丽说：“我爸爸是个律师。他把坏人关进监狱。”

小杰克说：“我爸爸是名医生。他让所有的病人恢复健康。”

除了小强尼，班上所有的孩子都轮流说了一遍他们的父亲是干什么的。

老师说：“强尼，你爸爸是做什么的？”

小强尼说：“我爸爸死了。”

“对不起。听到这个消息我很抱歉。但他死前做什么？”

“他脸色发青，把大便拉在地毯上。”

注：时态双关语。英语“What does someone do”的句式，在现在时的句子中，表示“某人的工作或职业是什么”，或者“某人以什么为生”。但在过去时“What did someone do”的句子中，则表示“某人做过或干过什么事”。

A Teacher asks the children to discuss what their fathers do for a living。

Little Mary says：“My Dad is a lawyer。He puts the bad guys in jail。”

Little Jack says：“My Dad is a doctor。He makes all the sick people better。”

All the kids in the class had their turn except Little Johnny。

The teacher says：“Johnny，what does your Dad do？”

Little Johnny says：“My Dad is dead。”

“I'm sorry to hear that，but what did he do before he died？”

“He turned blue and shit on the carpet。”
