［简评］精短有力之作。“碰疼砰痛”，出语不凡，四字皆为仄声，如同绕口令，暗示命运的挫折坎壈；又声似鼓点，与“命运那老鼓手”的“定音”相互勾连。英文第二行setting the tune可否改为：that sets the tune, 以与首行it’s Fate the old drummer配合，表示强调之意？非马先生答曰：“那样是会显得更有力些。我用setting主要是想让它有正在进行的意味。而且如用sets, 则前面必须用that, 同后面的which和where念起来多少显得有点拗口。”其实，爱用现在分词，显为非马先生英文诗作的一个特点。（张智中）
