在一个政治腐败案审判最激烈的时候，检察官严厉质问一名证人。

他咆哮道：“难道你收了5000美元来掩盖这个案子吗？”

证人盯着窗外，好像他没有听到这个问题。

“难道你收了5000美元来掩盖这个案子吗？”检察官重复追问。

证人仍然没有回应。

最后，法官俯身对证人说：“先生，请回答问题。”

“哦。”证人有点惊讶地说，“我以为他是在问你。”

原文： Corruption Case

At the height of a political corruption trial，the prosecuting attorney attacked a witness：“Isn't it true，”he bellowed，“that you accepted five thousand dollars to compromise this case？”

The witness stared out the window，as though he hadn't hear the question。

“Isn't it true that you accepted five thousand dollars to compromise this case？”the lawyer repeated。

The witness still did not respond。

Finally，the judge leaned over and said：“Sir，please answer the question。”

“Oh。”the startled witness said，“I thought he was talking to you。”
