一个女人夜里醒来，发现她的丈夫不在床上。

她穿上睡袍，下楼去找他。

她发现他坐在厨房的桌子旁，面前有一杯咖啡。

他眼睛盯着墙壁，似乎陷入了沉思。她见他擦拭了脸上的泪水，呷了一口咖啡。

“怎么了，亲爱的？”她悄悄地走进厨房，“你为什么半夜坐在这里？”

丈夫抬起头来，神情严肃地问：“你还记得20年前我们约会时，你只有17岁吗？”

想到丈夫如此体贴和细致，妻子很感动。

“是的。我记得。”她回答。

丈夫停顿了一下。有些话难以说出口。

“你还记得你父亲在我的车后座抓到我们俩的时候吗？”

“是的。我记得。”妻子说着，在他旁边的椅子上坐了下来。

丈夫继续说：“你还记得他用猎枪指着我的脸说，‘要么你娶我女儿，要么我把你送进监狱关20年。’”

“我也记得。”她轻声回答。

他又一次擦去脸颊上的眼泪，说：“今天，我没法和你呆在一起！”

A woman awakes during the night to find that her husband was not in their bed。

She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him。

She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in front him。

He appears deep in thought，just staring at the wall。She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of coffee。

“What's the matter，dear？”she whispers as she steps into the room，“Why are you down here at this time of night？”

The husband looks up：“Do you remember 20 years ago when we were dating，and you were only 17？”he asks solemnly。

The wife is touched thinking her husband is so caring and sensitive。

“Yes，I do。”she replies。

The husband pauses。The words are not coming easily。

“Do you remember when you father caught us in the back seat of my car？”

“Yes，I remember。”says the wife，lowering herself into a chair beside him。

The husband continues：“Do you remember when he shoved a shotgun in my face and said，‘Either you marry my daughter，or I will send you to jail for 20 years。’”

“I remember that too。”she replies softly。

He wipes another tear from his cheek and says：“I would have gotten out today！”
