One can never be too sure of herself when it comes to wine.

Bordeaux is said to be cursed by the number “7” with a notable exception of the legendary 1947 vintage. So tonight, a 1997 Chateau La Conseillante was opened with a very low expectation indeed, for just casual drinking ;-)

And it...

just BLOSSOMED in the glass with bewitching aromas coming at you, tumbling upon themselves, making you feel as if one nose was not enough ;-)

And what a nose! …

perfumed, seductive, noble and hedonist at the same time: Russian leather, black truffle, smoky cedarwood, sweet tobacco, interlaced with oriental spices, mint and nuances of musk and withered rose...Amazingly, succulent, dry black fruits still lied beneath, giving flesh and vibrancy to the wine. It was almost sweet on the palate with melted tanins. While the mid-palate appeared to be a bit less complex and slightly dry, the finish was quite persistent.

How wonderful to be seduced in such a mesmerizing way! ;-))

So never let someone else' opinion dictate what you drink, and

So from Burgundy - Salut, Bordeaux!

PS: A wine at its very best; could hold for a few more years but don't ever hesitate to drink it now. NO decanting necessary.
