Some quick points coming to mind with regard to the Co-ops in Burgundy:
-
not important in Cote d'Or, where domaines and negociants dominate. One important co-op in Cote d'Or is Cave des Hautes Cotes
-
important in Cote Chalonnaise, Maconnais, and Chablis. Key names are as follows: -
-
Cote Chalonnaise: Cave de Buxy (in Montagny, but they also produce other Acs of this region)
-
Maconnais: Cave de Lugny, Cave de Viré, Cave des Terres Secretes, etc
-
Chablis: la Chablisienne (very important and one of the best! accounting for 25% of Chablis' production, 300 participants, 2.5million cases a year & of quite high quality)

co-ops in Burgundy
often enjoy strong retail sales and they also sell large volume of bulk wine to negociant houses -
there is a movement to promote co-ops in export markets. «Blason de Bourgogne» is the name under which 5 top Burgundy co-ops unite to develop a combined marketing and export program. These 5 co-ops are Cave de Buxy, La Chablisienne, Cave des Terres Secretes, Caves des Hautes Cotes, and Cave de Bailly (Saint-Bris)
