成语的属格

（一）名词属格的意义在于所有（possessive关系、主谓关系、动宾关系、同位关系，以及来源、类别、度量等。
a) 表示所有关系
Mr Smith's passport has been visaed. 史密斯先生的护照已出示过了。
The Xisha Islands are an integral part of China's territory. 西沙群岛是中国的领土。
The Young Pioneer's red scarf looks all the more red in the rising sun.

少先队员的红领巾耀眼地红在朝阳下。
b) 表示主谓关系
The visitor's arrival was reported in yesterday's papers .

客人到访的报道在昨天的报纸上。
The enemy's plot was exposed. 敌人的阴谋暴露了。
The ocean's roar did not frighten our young seamen a bit.

大海洋的咆哮没有吓到我们年轻的水手，一点也没有。
c) 表示动宾关系
The new China has been paying great attention to the younger generation's education.

新中国一直十分重视青年一代的教育。
The enemy's defeat brought the war to an end.

敌人的失败结束了战争。
The warprisoners'release was ordered in accordance with international conventions (国际惯例）．

这些战犯的释放的依据是国际惯例。
d) 同位关系
Tom bought the book at Brown's, the bookseller's. 汤姆买这本书是在布朗书店。
He saw the catalogue at Mr Smith's, his cousin 's . 他看目录是斯密表哥家。

e) 表示来源
The People's Daily editorials (《人民日报》社论）
the shippers' invoice 发货人的发票

f) 表示类别．
children's stories 儿童故事
men's shoes 男式鞋

g) 表示度量·
a three days' journey 一个为期三天的旅行

（二）只能用名词属格但不可以改用 of- 词组实例
Jim is a ship's carpenter. 吉姆是木匠。
What if John has a doctor's degree？ Don't you think practice is important?

如果约翰有博士学位呢？你不认为练习很重要吗？
Have you a copy of the teacher's book? 你有一本老师用书吗？

（1）当名词属格用千某些成语时，也不可改用 of- 词组。
at fingers'ends / tips 精通
at one's wits'end 一筹莫展
at a stone's throw 投石之遥
at the death's door 在死亡之门
at swords' points 剑拔弩张
a hair's breadth 头发的宽度
a wolf in sheep's clothing 狼披羊皮

in life's struggle  在生活斗争中
keep at arm's length 保持臂距
one's journey's end  旅程的尽头
out of harm's way  不在危险地方
to one's heart's content 尽情
a bird's-eye view 鸟瞰

（2）其他宜用名词属格的场合
I do not know the students' opinion of him.我不知道学生们怎么看待他。
We must closely follow the government's policy in education.我们必须严格执行政府的教育政策。
Mary's view on your article falls in with ours. 玛丽对你文章的看法与我们一致。
We just saw Nancy's brother who arrived from Birmingham the other day.

我们刚看到南希的哥哥到了，他来自伯明翰，是前天到的。
All the students have attended the engineer's report, which is most instructive.

所有的学生都参加了工程师的报告会，他的报告很有启发性。
We have to request the Committee's approval. 我们必须请求委员会批准。
Let's ask the secretary's opinion. 让我们问问秘书的意见。
The PLA men demanded the enemy's unconditional surrender. 解放军要敌人无条件投降。
The salesman's brother, a postman, was here this morning. 售货员的哥哥是邮递员，来这里是在早上。
Lee's friend, the singer, is a member of Chinese Musicians' Association.

李的朋友是这位歌手，他的会员资格属于中国音乐家协会。

（三）只能用 of- 词组的场合
Some sentences have been changed at the suggestion of the teachers presented the meeting.

有些句子已经改了,听取的建议是老师们提交给会议的。

Do you know the opinion of the committee appointed a few days ago?

你知道那条意见吗？委员会的呢！新任命的！就前几天呢！
Have you read the articles of the students who were with us at the rally yesterday?

你读过那篇文章吗？是学生写的，和我们一起参加了集会的，就昨天呢！
Hammond is the president of a university in Sweden. 哈蒙德是是校长，他的大学在瑞典呢。
The struggle of the exploited in those areas is developing.

斗争中的，被剥削者都在那些地区，斗争还会继续。
In pre-liberation days, the rulers paid little attention to the welfare of the poor.

在没有解放的日子里，统治者很少注意福泽穷人。
