One day, we were shopping in the Briscoes in Hamilton.

“Ha ha, you have a home full of Briscoes!”the sales assistant laughed.

Yes!That was probably the fourth time that she has seen us in Briscoes.

We felt kind of embarrassed. After all, we do find shopping in Briscoes is pleasant.

It was all started in Cambridge. Before we moved to Hamilton for some job opportunities, we stopped in Cambridge for lunch. Kel, my husband thought we should buy some basic homeware. There were only a fully furnished kitchen and bathroom in the place we stayed in Hamilton. We got to organise ourself. So we bought some blankets, pillows, quilts, toast machine, jugs. Seeing that our Land Rover Discovery was filled with all those basic stuff, I asked Kel how were we going to ship those things back in south island if we would not stay at north. Kel said,“No worries. We do not have that much anyway”

After we moved in Hamilton, we found more excuses back to Briscoes. We needed a hot plate. We needed some glasses. We needed some knives and forks. Everytime we went back, all the sales assistant were very helpful. They all pointed us the right direction and the best deals.

Every week, there was a Briscoes flyer arrived in our mail box. Kel is always intereted in finding the hot deals. Sometimes I even think that he loves shopping better than I do.

“Here we go. Don’t you say you want to have a set of sharp knives? They are on special this week.Up to 60% off.”Kel said to me. That day, we went back to Briscoes again, came back with a new set of knives, a coffee machine, and a vacuum cleaner. Our homeware kept building up.

Two months later, we decides to move back to Nelson. One question came upon. How were we going to ship our stuff back to south island? After two months of staying here, we had got ourself a brand new 50′Tv, queen size bed, a dryer, a 6-seater dining table, a couch and 3 coffee tables. There was no way that we could fit everything in our Discoery, let alone we putting our baby Nelson in the back seat!

It was stressful for us thinking about the shipping. Kel went on Trade Me. He swopped a Mazda furniture truck with our Discory. At the end, we managed to get everything in the truck. The three of us happily jogging around at the front seats drove back to south island. Everyone on the road was amazed the three of us all sitting at the front, and baby Nelson was strapped in a baby seat. Luckily, no police stopped us to see our license and things in the truck.

Not long after we settled in Nelson, our Briscoes shopping campaign was launching again. Kel bought a bread maker and a deep fryer. I did not agree to buy those at the first place, beacause I thought the chances of using them are very slim.

One morning, we woke up with the fragrance of the freshly baked bread, I finally understood. Kel was right, nothing can beat a load of fresh homemade bread. Going back and forth to Briscoes is not a waste of time and money. What we got fomr there is the passion of life.
