Entertainment attractions steal the show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Blackjack, craps, roulette, poker — you name it, Nevada’s got it. Las Vegas’ casinos rake in more than $9 billion in annual revenues and attract more than 38 million tourists a year. But gambling isn’t the only game in this town.
Shows are big business in Las Vegas, too. From the high-flying excitement of Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE and the dulcet tones of The Jersey Boys to the folksy humor of The Mac King Comedy Magic Show and the dizzying dance moves of The Jabbawockeez, live entertainment in Las Vegas is a draw in itself. In 2011, more than 60 percent of tourists saw a show while visiting the city, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Many musicians also have homes in Las Vegas, where they live during longer periods of time where they perform multiple shows in the same venue. Grammy Award–winning singer Celine Dion and piano man Elton John both perform regularly at Caesars Palace as do pop stars Rod Stewart and Shania Twain.
