在等了近五个月后，公众终于在1月18日第一次看到了史密森尼国家动物园（Smithsonian's National Zoon）的大熊猫幼崽宝宝。
这个雌性幼崽出生于2013年8月23日，是中国借展的国家动物园繁殖配偶美香和添添的后代。
宝宝将在4岁时永久返回位于卧龙的中国保护大熊猫研究中心（China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Wolong），并进入那里的大熊猫繁殖项目。这个中心的科学家参加了2011年到2013对美香的人工授精。宝宝8岁大的哥哥泰山现正在位于中国四川的碧峰峡熊猫基地生活。

National Zoo’s Giant Panda Cub Makes Public Debut

After nearly five months, the public finally got its first look at Bao Bao, the giant panda cub at the Smithsonian's National Zoo, on January 18.
The female cub was born on August 23, 2013, to Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, the resident breeding pair at the zoo on loan from China.
When Bao Bao is 4 years old, she will move permanently to the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Wolong, where she will enter into the giant panda breeding program. Scientists at the center were part of the teams that performed artificial inseminations on Mei Xiang from 2011 to 2013. Bao Bao's 8-year-old brother, Tai Shan, lives at the Bifengxia Panda Base in Sichuan, China.
