Hooray for Hollywood!: Academy Award Best Pictures Winners

In February, the Beijing American Center goes to the movies with our “Hooray for Hollywood!” theme, celebrating the best of American cinema.  In anticipation of the Academy Awards (popularly known as the “Oscars”) later this month, we’ll be showing films that won the prize for Best Picture throughout the decades.  First up: Casablanca (1942), the classic tale of an American expatriate with a mysterious past who runs a bar in Casablanca, Morocco, against the backdrop of World War II.  When his former love walks into his bar one evening, he is forced to choose between love and virtue.  Come see why this film is frequently called one of the best of all time.
