每年秋季，美国各地的公民组织、宗教团体和小城镇都要庆祝返乡节，让现在的居民在返乡节周末有机会欢迎那些已经搬走的人回来看看。
每年秋季，美国各地的公民组织、宗教团体和小城镇都要庆祝返乡节（homecoming，亦译为返校节），让现在的居民在返乡节周末有机会欢迎那些已经搬走的人回来看看。
返乡节一般安排在9月下旬或10月间，举办的活动往往包括野餐、聚会和节日游行，当地的行进乐队、舞蹈队和音乐团体都会参加表演。坐在游行花车上的当地居民包括小企业主、选美皇后、执法官员和地方官员等各界人士。在游行结束后，很多城镇会举办返乡宴，款待为社区作出巨大贡献的居民。
欢庆人群通常在活动结束前共同观看当地高中的美式足球比赛。
返乡节活动历史悠久，可追溯至20世纪初期，今天在全美各地仍然盛行。

Each fall, civic organizations, religious groups and small towns across America celebrate homecoming, a weekend that offers a chance for current residents to welcome back those who have moved away.
Each fall, civic organizations, religious groups and small towns across America celebrate homecoming, a weekend that offers an opportunity for current residents to welcome back those who have moved away.
Typically held in late September or October, homecoming events often include picnics, parties and parades, during which local marching bands, dancers and music groups perform. Floats may carry townsfolk ranging from small business owners and beauty pageant queens to law enforcement officers and local officials. Following the parade, many towns host a homecoming banquet to honor residents who have made significant contributions to the community.
Revelers often end the celebration by gathering to watch the town’s high school football game.
The history of homecoming dates back to the early 1900s, and the event remains popular today across the United States.
