旧金山正在庆祝金门大桥建成75周年。
这座大桥被称为全世界上镜率最高的大桥之一。75年来，金门大桥（Golden Gate Bridge）一直是旧金山的地标，而对许多旅客和移民来说，它则是美国的象征。
金门大桥——以其横跨的金门海峡命名——于1937年5月27日建成启用。在建造这座大桥之前，跨越旧金山的湾口只能搭乘耗时27分钟的摆渡。金门大桥是工程学上的一项成就，它在当时是全世界最长的悬索桥(2,736 米)。
专栏作家卡尔·诺尔特（Carl Nolte）最近在《旧金山纪事报》（San Francisco Chronicle）上写道：“金门大桥到底好在哪里？它已不再是世界上最长或最高的悬索桥了。它从来就不是最繁忙的大桥。但它却是一颗明星……。”
一位赴旧金山参加庆祝金门大桥建成活动的游客一言以蔽之：“它是世界上最美丽的艺术杰作之一。”

Golden Gate Bridge Spectacular at 75

San Francisco is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge.
It has been called the most photographed bridge in the world. For 75 years the Golden Gate has been a San Francisco icon, and for many visitors and immigrants, a symbol of America.
The Golden Gate Bridge — named after the strait it spans — opened on May 27, 1937. Prior to its construction, crossing the mouth of the San Francisco Bay required a 27-minute ferry ride. An engineering triumph, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time (2,736 meters).
“What is it about the Golden Gate Bridge, anyway?” columnist Carl Nolte recently asked in the San Francisco Chronicle. “It's not the longest suspension bridge in the world anymore, or the tallest. It never was the busiest. But it's a star... . ”
A visitor to San Francisco for the bridge’s birthday celebration said simply, "It's one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork in the world.”
