Technology can be fun, and American Girl Scouts are proving that.

Girl Scouts are getting involved in robotics teams and earning proficiency badges focused on digital arts, science and technology, and innovation. It’s part of a Girl Scouts campaign to encourage girls to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Anna Maria Chávez, the chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of the USA, which now has some 2.3 million girl members, said her organization found that some 74 percent of teen girls said they were interested in STEM subjects, but only 13 percent considered these fields as career choices. So Girl Scouts is engaging girls in enjoyable, hands-on science and technology projects.
