As a dental assistant you will spend a lot of time with the dentist you are working with and patients. If you love working with people, this is a great choice. As a dental hygienist you work one on one with patients and clean their teeth. You are in charge of cleaning and preparing the room for the patient and then cleaning the patient's teeth. You will work with the dentist a little throughout the day, but for the most part you are one on one with the patient. Being a dental hygienist requires a few more years of schooling but if you love working with people it is worth it. A dental technician usually works in a lab setting not connected with a dental office. Lab technicians spend their days pouring up impressions and making crowns and dentures. Lab technicians work independently and almost never interact with patients. If you like to work by yourself and love working with your hands, a lab technician may be a great choice for you.

The first step was deciding that I wanted to own my own business. After I was sure that ownership was the right things for me, I evaluated two offices that were for sale. I looked at previous year's tax returns to evaluate the potential profit from running the business, and compared that with the purchase price and the loan amount. I also considered the long term upgrades that were needed in each office. It is a long process of evaluating numbers, but what it really came down to in the end was whether or not I was ready for the time committment of owning/running my own business. It has been worth it for me. I have really enjoyed it.

We have several sports that people participate in: track, cross country, baseball, football, gymnastics, field hockey, hockey, ice skating, softball, wrestling, swimming and diving, golf, tennis, volleyball, rowing and soccer. As far as time devoted to watching games, it varies based on people's interest level, but for us, we will go to a basketball game every few weeks, but love football and attend a game a week during football season. The Hawkeyes are a college team and do not play the Vikings, so I can still be a Vikings fan and a Hawkeye fan. I love to watch football. My husband and I attend all of the University of Iowa football games. We love it.
