I am a native of Orlando, Florida. Of course, Orlando is best known for being the home of Disneyworld and Universal Studios. My first summer job was working at the Magic Kingdom, operating a ride called The Jungle Cruise. I had so many great times at the Disney parks. One of my favorite parts of working at Disney was watching the nightly fireworks. The summertime is very hot, so cooling off at the swimming pool or waterparks was the perfect solution. The rollercoasters at Universal Studios are the best! They just opened a section known as “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” that looks amazing, and am excited to visit on my next trip home. Close to the themeparks is Sandlake Road, which is full of great dining options from steakhouses to Mexican restaurants. One of my favorite restaurants is Seasons 52, which has beautiful lake views and al fresco dining.
But Orlando offers a lot more than just the themeparks! My favorite area of town is called Winter Park. Its tree-lined streets are filled with great boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. My favorite street is called Park Avenue, and I often went there to enjoy drinks at one of the wine bars or dine al fresco with friends. I also loved taking day trips to the beach. I often went to Cocoa Beach, about an hour away, which has a nice beach and great waves.
Overall, Orlando is a great place to visit. I especially love going in the winter, escaping the cold and soaking up sunny, warm weather!
