Denise
On
14th January 2010, YK Pao School organised its first Art
Auction.
For a school to succeed, it takes not only the commitment of
Founders but also the support of the whole school community,
including students, parents and teachers. The Art
Auction was aimed at raising awareness about supporting the School
and giving students and parents the chance to support the School’s
development.
The
event was organised in such a way that students, parents and
members of the School’s wider community contributed pieces of
art. The artwork included pieces donated by eight
renowned artists who have no direct link to the
School. They hoped that in contributing their
artwork, they would help to support the art programme and stimulate
students’ interest in art.
A member of the Fundraising and Event Committee, which was
responsible for organising the Art Auction, said that she was
delighted to discover the artistic talents among the School’s
parent body. Furthermore, she thought that
parents’ interest in supporting education and the community set a
good example for students.
The
students’ enthusiasm for the event was one of the key features of
its success. Their willingness to hand over their
own artwork to help the development of the School means that they
have all made a contribution to the School’s development.
The Art
Auction was organised by the Fundraising and Events Committee of
Friends of YK Pao School. In total, 194 art works
were sold, raising RMB142,000. Thank you very
much to all the parents who donated their time and energy to making
this event such a success, particularly Denise Gilman and Sunny
Yeung.
