Kirstin I. Duffin在他的利用搜索引擎工具提升馆际互借服务成功率一文中，介绍利用工具快速获得的OA文献可以占到已发生的馆际互借&文献传递服务量的三分之一。不晓得CALIS文献传递系统中有没有做过这个测试。如果参照Kirstin的做法，文献传递服务系统中有近三分之一的量，是可以通过指引读者使用一些工具自助快速获取的。不过国内外有关OA文献的规范整合处理差别较大，外文文献可以这么操作，中文则不一定。

在Kirstin提到的免费文献搜索工具中，除了谷歌及谷歌学术，偶比较感兴趣的是CORE和JURN。知乎上早有人将之列为必备工具。

JURN基于谷歌，现在使用依然需要翻墙，但呈现结果简洁明了，结果记录也有来自于CORE的指引。

CORE可以直接使用，查找外文文献不能访问谷歌的首选CORE。
