冰河岬

 

半空中

一只孤独的鹫鹰

突然患了

惧高症

在峭壁的阴影里

越晕越旋越

低

 

双手紧紧抓住

悬崖上粗黑的铁栏

一个南美洲来的小伙子

在旁观者不及呼出的惊叫里

猛然探出头去

向暗绿斑驳的谷底

吐了一口

苍白的口水

给自己壮胆

 

 

GLACIER POINT

 

in the dizzy shadow of the Half Dome

a lone eagle

stricken with acrophobia

is circling lower

and lower

toward the bottom

of the valley

 

clutching at the black iron railing

a young man from South America suddenly

sticks his head out

amid the voiceless cries

of terrified bystanders

and spits something whitish

at the dark green-yellow valley

below

just to reassure himself

 

 

 

优山美地瀑布

 

风尘仆仆的智者头上

点缀风景的几丝

白发

被山风吹得

左飘右摆

 

连自动调距的镜头

都捉摸不住

焦点

 

附注：干旱季节，我们心目中万马奔腾的大瀑布，竟只是随风飘荡的几根白丝。手里端着照相机，颇有无从照起的感觉。

 

 

YOSEMITE FALLS UNDER A DRY SPELL

 

decorating the scenery

a wisp of white hair

from the head of a sage

is blown right

and left

by the wind

 

even my electronic lens

has difficulty finding

its focus

 

 

 

镜湖

      

干涸露底的镜子

由磊磊的石卵构成

 

凹凹凸凸映照

天空峭绝粗犷的脸

 

 

MIRROR LAKE

 

The mirror

dry and ragged

is made of stones

 

reflecting

the jutting face

of the sky

 

 

 

巨杉

 

从天上直直伸下来的

神们的巨脚

暂时在这里停息

 

等摇晃不定的地球恢复平衡

再举步向前

 

 

GIANT SEQUOIAS

      

before stepping forward

these mighty feet from heaven

must wait

 

for the wobbling earth

to regain

      its balance

作者简介:

非马，本名马为义。1936年生于台湾台中市，在原籍广东潮阳度过童年。台北工专(现台北科技大学) 毕业，Marquette University 机械硕士，威斯康辛大学核工博士，在美国阿冈国家实验室从事能源研究工作多年。著有中文诗集《在风城》《白马集》《非马集》《非马的诗》及《非马新诗自选集》（共四卷）等，英文诗集 Autumn Window 等两种，散文集《凡心动了》《不为死猫写悼歌》及译著《让盛宴开始─我喜爱的英文诗》等多种。作品被收入百多种选集及教科书并被译成十多种文字。非马还主编了《朦胧诗选》丶《台湾现代诗四十家》丶《台湾现代诗选》等。曾任美国伊利诺州诗人协会会长，为芝加哥诗人俱乐部成员。近年并从事绘画与雕塑，在芝加哥及北京举办了多次个展与合展。

 

 

About the Author

William Marr has published nineteen volumes of poetry—two in English and the rest in his native Chinese language. His poems appear in numerous anthologies and have been translated into more than ten languages. He has edited and published several anthologies of Chinese and Taiwanese modern poetry.  Meanwhile, he also pursues other artistic interests including painting and sculpting and has held several solo as well as group exhibits in the Chicago area, Beijing, and on the Internet.  A former president of the Illinois State Poetry Society, he is a scientist by profession and has lived and worked in the Chicago area since 1970.
