Side Effects from Medication

The morning sun shone brightly through Setsuko's bedroom window. And at that moment, she knew she was getting another migraine. Setsuko felt a throbbing pain around her head. The pain was terrible and lasted for several hours.
Setsuko had tried several over-the-counter headache medications, but nothing really worked. So she decided to go to Dr. Williams for an evaluation. At his office, Dr. Williams examined Setsuko and wrote her a prescription.
Setsuko tried her new medication at home, and it seemed to help a little. But it also had some unpleasant, side effects: caused and dizziness. Dr. William gave her another prescription, but it caused muscle weakness. The next one made her fell tired. And she was concerned about the latest one because it was addictive.
Now Setsuko worried more about the medications than about the migraines. "I can give you another prescription," said Dr. Williams. "But many medications have side effects. Some people experience them. Others don't. You need to see how they work for you."
Dr. Williams reminded Setsuko to try to stop migraines before they happened. "Eat a healthy diet. Get enough sleep and drink a lot of water," he said. "Avoid loud noises and bright lights."
"Well," said Setsuko, "the sun is really bright in my bedroom in the morning. Maybe I'll wait before getting a new prescription, and try putting a shade over my bedroom window."
