Unnecessary Sophistry
( 22. Therapeutic
Efficacy Is Medical
Science)
Strangely enough, now
some guy still says:
"The theory of Yin Yang and Five
Elements
in TCM
( Traditional Chinese Medicine)
lacks logic
and precision, so it is not
scientific
."
Actually,
for a long time, such
unreasonable
entanglements with
TCM have been rampant
In fact,
whether as doctors, patients
or
potential patients,
we should have a clear
understanding of
medical science.
1.
Medical science is the science to
study
effective methods for treating
diseases.
In other
words, it is never the work
for
medical science
to try all the ways to
deny all
the known effective
treatment
methods
!
So, any
effective method of treating
diseases
and its
formation process naturally
belongs
to the
treasure trove of medical
scientific
knowledge, whether it comes from TCM
or
Western
medicine, or whether it comes
from
academia
or not.
2. Based
on the patient's symptoms and
applying
a kind of medical theory, a
set
of
treatment methods can be
inferred.
As long
as this set of methods is
often
effective, then this medical theory is
a
some
reliable and complete medical
theory,
whether it is based on
molecular
biology,
anatomy, or the theory of yin
and yang
and five elements, or whether
this
medical theory is understood
and
accepted
by all scholars.
3.
Nowadays, many people disdain
and
sneer at the theory of Yin Yang
and
Five Elements,
but in fact, such behavior
may not
be rational.
Objectively speaking, different
professions
have
different views on the theory of
Yin
Yang and
Five Elements, which is
normal
and
understandable.
However,
in the face of a large number
of
objective
facts, we should still have a
rational understanding
of the theory of yin
and
yang and the five
elements.
For a
long time, TCM physicians have
indeed
been able
to apply the theory of yin and
yang
and the
five elements to dialectically
treat
specific
diseases of patients, and it
is
very effective
.
All of
these have been proven by a
large
amount of
facts, not to mention the
constant
coverage
on television.
If we
insist on completely denying
these
numerous
objective facts, it is
obviously
self
deception, and that is not a
scientific
attitude.
In fact,
anyone with a slight
scientific
spirit will
understand the following
conclusion:
The
most important thing is not what
theory
we
have already understood, but how
we
rationally analyze objective facts that
we
currently cannot
understand.
So,
completely denying these objective
facts
is extremely irresponsible
and foolish,
because any
fool would also arbitrarily
deny a
large number of objective
facts.
In
fact, we can temporarily regard
the
theory of
Yin Yang and Five Elements
as a
fast and effective
modeling
method
in TCM.
This modeling method
objectively
describes the
relationship between
symptoms
and pathology, as
well
as the
mechanism of TCM
treatment,
making
it easier for TCM physicians
to
prescribe and provide timely and
effective treatment
for many patients.
As
for the correspondence between
the
theory of
Yin Yang - Five Elements and
molecular biology
or anatomy, it can be
gradually explored
in the future without
rushing
to achieve
it.
In
fact, it is also impossible to rush
to
achieve it.
So,
currently, no one can stop the
effective
rescue of
patients by TCM just because
he
does not
understand TCM's treatment
methods,
or even use this as an excuse
to
hinder
the development of TCM and
ultimately hinder the development
of
medical
science !
In
fact, although the gradual
understanding
of
knowledge may not be satisfactory, it
is
objectively
unavoidable.
For
example, we humans have been
consuming
grains
for at least 8000 years, but we
have
only gradually begun to
understand the
various molecular
structures and nutritional
values of
grains in the past century.
If
someone had believed from the
very
beginning:
"The nutritional value of
consuming
grains cannot be explained yet,
so
we
should not continue to eat any
grains from now
on."
Then
humans would have had no
chance
of
survival and development, which
shows
that this
kind of thinking is extremely
wrong and
foolish.
Perhaps
some guy still oppose it, then
please
ask him
to review his experiences
while
studying
geometry.
Some
geometry problems seem difficult
and
almost
impossible to prove at first.
However,
if one or a few auxiliary
lines
are drawn, these geometry
problems
become very
simple in an instant.
At this
point, there is no need to say:
"There were no auxiliary lines
here
before. Drawing
auxiliary lines like
this is
fraudulent and lacks scientific
basis
."
In fact,
if he has rich experience in
solving problems,
he will know how
to
draw auxiliary lines by
looking at
geometry question
types.
The same
principle applies:
The
theory of Yin Yang and Five
Elements
is an
auxiliary system for
understanding
the
operating mechanism of our
human
body.
Based on
this auxiliary system, we can
easily understand
the operating
mechanism of
the human
body,
discover
the formation mechanism
of many
diseases, and understand the
treatment mechanism
of many
traditional
Chinese medicines.
So
experts know how to prescribe when
they
see a
patient's symptoms, but now there
are
too many
people who do not understand
the
theory of
Yin Yang and Five Elements,
which
has
caused many unnecessary
misunderstandings
and
troubles.
Of
course, there are also many guys
who
deliberately pretend not to
understand,
deliberately make trouble for TCM,
so,
such guys
are extremely despicable !
4. As a
Chinese, it is shameful that
he
does not know
TCM.
If he
does not have the ability to
learn
TCM, it is also
forgivable.
But if he
still takes pride in this and
even
ignores a
large number of objective
facts,
ignores
the pain and helplessness of
similar
patients,
and conversely says that TCM
is
unscientific, it is truly unforgivable
!
Similarly, there is a math major who is
not
good at
solving differential equations,
so
it's best
not to boast about it
anymore.
But if he
insists on saying something like:
"Differential equations do not
belong
to
mathematics, let alone science."
Then he
is shameless !
In the
same way, as a Chinese, it is
no
matter that
he does not know about
TCM.
But if he
insists that "the theory of
TCM
is
unscientific", it is obviously not
a
glorious
thing !
In any
case, we should always keep in
mind
the first
law of medical science:
We
should discuss scientific
problems
based on objective facts, while
discussing
medical problems based on
actual
therapeutic effects
!
At the
same time, in order to permanently
prevent
unwarranted interference with the
development of medical
science, we may
simply
say that:
The
objective facts are science and
the
actual
therapeutic effects are medical
science
!
