中国古代哲学思想对当代音乐教育可能的启示

摘要:

音乐教育是需要哲学基础的。一个世纪以来,我们的音乐教育者在林立的西方哲学思想中探索与寻觅,迷茫与徘徊,以图从中找寻到一条我国音乐教育改革的启示之路。然而今日,当我们还在为是“实践哲学”还是“审美哲学”争论不休时,却常常将脚下这片千年沃土予以遗忘。事实上,从先秦诸子到魏晋玄学,以致东渡而来的佛教文化……沉睡的中华大地上有着无数可供我们汲取与挖掘的宝贵思想。而这其中便有着足以令当代音乐教育安身立命的哲学根基。

本文力图从儒、释、道三个中国古代文化思想中,为当代中国音乐教育寻找可能的哲学支柱。对儒家的人格教育,道家的道法自然、天人合一,佛家的唯识论等哲学思想予以阐述,同时回顾近代以蔡元培“美育代宗教”为代表的思潮对古代思想的继承、结合与运用,以期觅得点亮当代中国音乐教育的哲学启明灯。

Possible Enlightenment for Contemporary Music Education from Chinese ancient philosophy

Abstract:

Music education requires philosophical foundations. In order to find an indicative road for Chinese music education reform, music educators have been wandering, probing and seeking in the forest of the western philosophy for a century. However, we always forget about the fertile soil beneath our feet, while busying ourselves with arguing about “Aesthetic philosophy” or “Praxial philosophy”. As a matter of fact, there are numerous precious thoughts that can be dug and learnt, from pre-Qin schools of thoughts, Wei-Jin Neo-Taoism, to Buddhism which originated from India yet was then blended into Chinese culture.  Among them, the anchor of life and spirit for Chinese contemporary music education is already there.

This essay is devoted to seek philosophical foundations for Chinese contemporary music education from three crucial ancient thoughts, namely, Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. By expatiating on the thoughts of “personality education” from Confucianism, “Tao conforms to its own nature” “Integrating the heaven with People” from Taoism, “Mere-Consciousness Theory” from Buddhism, and reviewing the succession, combination and application of the ancient thoughts in early 20th century, with Cai Yuan-pei’s “substituting religion with aesthetic education” as their representative, this essay intend to illuminate Chinese contemporary music education with an enlightenment lamp of philosophy.
