(一)创设情境,导入新课[Create plots and scenes and guide the new
lesson]
The main
learning task of section B is to listen and read about April fool’s
Day. At the same time, students tell their own stories. The teacher
can guide the new lesson using the communicative approach. First,
the teacher communicates with students in easy English. Such as, Is
everybody here? Who was late this morning? Who’s on duty today?
What’s the weather like today? How old are you? etc. The students
can understand and answer these questions easily. The activity can
be given about 3 minutes. The students can improve their speaking
by doing this. Then get the students to talk about the past events
in pairs. The questions in part 3b in section A can be asked again.
This will help the students to review and consolidate the target
language in section A.And then show the flashcard of part 1a to the
class and get the students finish the task of part 1a.

Try to
learn something about April Fool’s Day and get the students do much
practic about listening, speaking, reading and writing. So Section
B is designed by four steps. In 1a-1b, students learn and use some
important words and phrases. In 2a-2b, listening practice about
April Fool’s Day is designed for the students to listen and talk.
In 3a -3c, reading and writing practice is designed about April
Fool’s Day. In part 4, get the students to tell their own funny
stories.

【注意】(1)so...that如此……以致,引导一结果状语从句。
(2)convincing形容词,“令人信服的”是由动词convince的ing分词变成的形容词。
(3)convince sb(of sth/that从句)“使(某人)信服,使(某人)明白”。hundreds of
“上百的”,表示泛数,前面不能出现具体数目。
【点拨】so...that和such...that都可引导结果状语从句,意思都为“如此……以致”。
(1)so...that,so后修饰形容词或副词,结构为so+形容词/副词+that从句或so+形容词+a/an+可数名词单数+that从句。
(2)such...that,such后修饰名词,结构为such+a/an+形容词+可数名词单数+that从句或such+形容词+可数名词复数/不可数名词复数+that从句。
(3)如果名词前有many或much出现时,只能用so...that句型。
【应用】(1)We couldn’t convinced him of his mistake.
我们无法使他明白他的错。
(2)He is
a convincing speaker.他是个令人信服的演说家。
(3)用so...that或such...that填空。
He is
such a helpful boy that we all like him.
The boy

(3)across介词,横过,跨过
【点拨】cross/across/through都有“穿过”的意思
(1)cross动词,“横过,跨过”,在句中用作谓语,强调“从物体的一边到另一边”这一动作。
(2)across介词,“横过,跨过”,在句中不能用作谓语,也是强调“从物体的一边到另一边”。
(3)through介词,“穿过,从……中间通过”,强调从物体两边的中间部分穿过。
【应用】(1)There was a panic when the fire

(3)用cross/across/through填空

【注意】(1)authority名词,“权威机构,行政管理机构,当局”,常用复数形式。
(2)reveal动词,意为“揭示,揭露”。
(3)hoax名词,意为“恶作剧,骗局,玩笑”;此外它还可用作动词“欺骗,戏弄”的意思。
(4)flee动词,“逃跑,逃走”的意思,过去式,过去分词为fled, fled. flee
from意为“从……逃跑”,相当于escape from或run away from.

marry
sb和……结婚,get married结婚。
(2)thrill动词,“使非常激动,使非常紧张”的意思。
【点拨】marry在大多数情况下作为及物动词,marry sb“和……结婚”,不能出现marry with
sb这种情况;另外,get
married为一词组,“结婚”。以上两种情况,谓语动词都是非延续性动词,故不能和表示一段时间的时间状语连用,但可以用be
married表示这一状态。此外marry还可用作不及物动词。

(2)They got married ten years ago.他们十年前结婚的。
(3)We
were thrilled with joy.我们喜悦极了。

【注意】reply动词,意为“回答,答复”。
【点拨】reply和answer都是动词,都可表示“回答,答复”的意思。
(1)answer较常见和普通,可指口头、书面或行动的答复,可用作及物动词或不及物动词,但多用作及物动词answer
sb/sth.
(2)reply较正式,常指经过考虑后的回答,可用作及物动词或不及物动词,但多用作不及物动词,reply to sb/sth。

(四)应用迁移,巩固提高[Application and transfer, consolidation and
improvement]
1.Group
work: Students tell their own embarrassing stones and funny
mistakes that they over made. The teacher may organize the students
to do this job in groups. This activity can bring students lots of
fun and help them to improve their English speaking.
2.Tell
stories: In groups, the students tell a list of embarrassing
mistake people sometime make as the following : Someone is looking
for his or her glasses, but the glasses are just on his or her
eyes; they might ask who has made a phone call and asked for the
wrong person; someone has spilt food or soup and so on. This
activity will make the students share the happiness of study and
life.

The
content of this unit is to learn to narrate past events and talk
about April Fool’s Day. The grammar focus is the Past Perfect
Tense. Students do much listening, speaking, reading and writing to
practice the target language. Students will enjoy the life and
share the happiness by learning this unit.
应用[Application]
Organize
the students to have a discussion about April Fool’s Day. The
students can talk about how and when April Fool’s Day came. And
what people usually do on this very special day. They also talk
about their own April Fool’s Day stories and others’ they know.
After the discussion, the students are supposed to write a passage
about April Fool’s Day. Make sure the students search information
about April Fool’s Day as much as possible.
反思[Pondering]
1.The
students should grasp the form and usage for the Past Perfect
Tense, as the Past Perfect Tense is the emphasis and difficulty of
this unit. So the teacher can make a proper conclusion for the
grammatical rules in this section to help the students remember the
usage of the tense. The teacher should give the students enough
materials to practice the tense.
2.The
topic of this unit is to learn to talk about bad days and April
Fool’s Day. The topic is very useful and interesting for students’
speaking English. The teacher shouldn’t neglect to help the
