At that time, the teenagers were fond of movies very much, but we had no chance to see the movies in the cinema, we usually watched the black and white films in open ground and that the theme was always one--the war. I still remember that the teacher taught us in class: “The people have no enough food and warm clothes to wear all over the world, so we should fight for it and save them when you grow up”. Many years later, I can't help laughing a lot when I think about it. 

It was interesting that instead of battle and saved the humankind we hoped for, the young generation was sent to the rural and mountains area to labor or work. At that point, we had to say goodbye to the school and books.

I stayed at a small village with ten educated urban youth from 1975-1977, villagers were very poor but so kind, they helped us to build our new farmer house, they taught us labor skills, and they recommended me to their village primary school to teach the children for one year. 

During the Spring Festival, we always performed on open area, we sung, we danced, and we did comedy show without any costumes at all. However, the small square of village was still very crowded. The weather was very cold and often snowy, after the show for a month, I was continuously ill with high fever and had to be in the hospital, my voice became bad and the doctor told me that I couldn’t sing anymore.

　　那时候，孩子们都非常喜欢看电影，我们没有机会去电影院看电影，大都是在一个空旷的场地看黑白电影，而且电影永远都是一个主旋律--战争片。我依然记得老师在课堂上对我们说：“全世界的人民还吃不饱穿不暖，你们长大以后要解放全人类”。许多年以后，每当我想起老师的话都忍不住要笑出声来。

 　  有趣的是还没等到我们去解放全人类，我们这一代年轻人却上山下乡了。那一刻，我们只好跟学校和书本说再见了。

　　我和十名知识青年从1975到1977年呆在一个小山村里，村民们虽然很穷但却很善良，他们帮助我们盖起了知青点，教会我们劳动的技能，他们还推荐我到村小学给孩子们教了一年书。

　　春节期间，我们总要在麦场上为他们表演节目，尽管没有华丽的服装，我们唱歌、跳舞，表演戏剧，小小的场地总是挤满了前来观看的村民。天气很冷还经常下雪，在连续演出一个月之后，我因持续的高烧住进了医院。我的嗓子坏了，医生告诉我说，我以后再也不能唱歌了。
