23rd to 25th March 2007, I was having
my period during the race weekend, exactly starting from the moring
of Friday 23rd. In another words,
it would be a tough weekend for
me as I got a real pain on my stomach and I did not feel
well.
But I have to be in two races: Asia
Super Car Challenge and Hong Kong N2000 touring car in this one
weekend. However, as I stated, I am the only race car driver who
can have period during a race weekend. All of my competitors have
no change to have it.
In Hong Kong Touring Car race, I drive a Honda DC5. And with
the Super Car, I drive a Porsche GT3 RS.
The gear box of DC5 was broken at the first free practice
session on Friday. So I had to give up the second session of
practice, that I was happy with because I did not want to drive at
all.

For the Super Car Challenge free practice, I did several 1'46
with a totally new setup. The Malaysian mechanic is from Porsche
Carrera Cup, named Christine. Christine found that
the former chamber of the GT3 RS I drove are: front 2.9, 3.6; rear
4.4, 4.5. That is the reason I always complain
that the car is not stable!!! Our focus was on
setup in the 2 practice sessions. The brake was awful. Longer
braking distance even if they replace the old braking disc with new
floating disc and some new braking pads. They found the braking
system was leaking at the end of first session and tried to fixed
it. However, it still leaks when I stop over at the pit lane at the
second session when I felt the brake is still awful. So we had to
end the second session very soon.
Saturday. Super Car qualify first. wet surface. I did not done well. 2'03, on the back. Later on I found that the aircon was on during my qualify.
The GT3 RS I drive
has aircon. Super Car Race 1 is immediately
after the touring car qualify.
Although I only did a few laps in DC5 qualify, I was still in a
great hurry for Super Car Race 1. I was out of breath after I run
into the RS. 2 minutes later, we drove out on the track. I was so
tired and really did not want to drive. I feel my hear is beating
in the helmet.
I start from the back, well, not really the back, there are still 4 or 5 cars behind. I could not remember how many cars I overtook in the 12 laps race, probably 4 or 5. I had been counting how many laps left then I could have a rest. After I came back, I was really exhausted. laid on a sofa immediately. I gained 2nd position of Class B. Later on I was told I did Class B fastest lap time which is 1'45. The overall winner's lap time is 1'44. I drive the only GT3 RS in the race, other Porsche drivers are driving GT3 CUP cars. Some drivers said 1'45 probably is the limit of the GT3 RS, if I want to be faster, I need a GT3 CUP car.
I was also told that I am the only one who overtook other cars during the race. Other cars had no position change during the race. However, I got to know that the Italian driver Louis (my former team mate), who drives a Ferrari F360, fight with Marchy Lee, who drives a much more powerful F430, all the way through the race. And F430 could not pass the F360! Louis is amazing!
I gave upthe touring car race
because I could not race Super Car if I drive DC5. But Super Car
race 2 is awful. My team mate Noel Becker bumped on my rear at T9
to make me spin. Somebody behind me, who saw the accident say, if
he did not bump on me, he would be on the gravel. I could not
restart my car and waited for over 1 minute. But 1 minute is too
long to catch up other cars. Worse, my gas paddle got loose 3 or 4
laps later and I could not put gas on properly. I saw my another
team mate Morris was out at the last lap. Later on I was told, it
is still Noel Becker bumped on Morris' rear to make him out. Our
team has 3 cars. we may gain position 1 and 3, or position 2 and 3
if we were not bumped out by the team
mate.
I was bumped out also because I slowed down a bit since I was already very close to the front cars. I remembered one thing, if two races cars bumped together in a race, it is always the fault of the rear car. The rear car driver is supposed to be a bad driver who has no talent on racing and should consider retirementof racing. I am always very careful not
to bumped on the front car when I am so close to them, after
knowing this rule. Thinking of this, I should have no regret.
Nevertheless, I showed my talent and more and more drivers think I
am fast.
