Luo Jinhu, a 15-year-old Ningxia boy who deserves sitting down in a bright classroom and preparing for senior high school, now works in Hohhot as a construction worker, because his father passed away on Oct 11, 2004 for cirrhosis and left the family 25,000 debt of medical treatment.

“I gave up schooling when I was 13 in the 1st year of junior high school. I didn’t even finish the 1st year.” Luo Jinhu said, “My mother and I owned 25,000 Yuan debt from relatives and other people. We already sold out our small house and farming land. It’s my uncle Ma Dongxue who hosts us now. We are homeless, so we stay with my uncle. For paying back the debt, my mom and I went to Hohhot. She is the cook of the construction team, making 500 a month. I am a construction worker in the team, in charge of transportation of cement. All my colleagues are in 20s. I am the only teenager. I work 8 or 9 hours a day, making 25 Yuan. I feel tired everyday. I have no idea when we can finish paying back the debt, but I do want to go back to school at that moment.”

Luo Jinhu and his mother kept crying while they were talking to us. I really pity him. He should go back to school. I gave him a pen and an excise book, hoping he could go back to school soon with our aid.
