可能许多人不清楚的是，与当地大多向日葵花田不同，这里的向日葵不是农民栽种用以收籽榨油或出售的，这一大片向日葵是红螺山风景区专门用来美化环境、供人观赏的。为了改善红螺山一带原来不太好的土地、植被，着力打造成森林绿地公园，临淄区投入很大的财力与人力。在红螺山南坡这里，园林人员去年开始种植了大片向日葵，一时间引来众多关注。

    在距离上来观赏葵花十天之后，我再次来到这里。花田东半部的葵花已经过了花盛期，开始凋落；而西边那片前些天还未大开花的向日葵，本来正处于花盛时，但与前者相比，大有逊色，大多数葵花花盘不大，花株矮小，并且杂草众多，直接影响拍照效果。可能是这里土地原本贫瘠，又缺乏管理所致吧：
