The first time we set eyes on 'Big Red,' father, mother and I were trudging through the freshlyfallen snow on our way to Hubble's Hardware store on Main Street in Huntsville, Ontario. Weplanned to enter our name in the annual Christmas drawing for a chance to win a hamper filled withfancy tinned cookies, tea, fruit and candy. As we passed the Eaton's department store's window,we stopped as usual to gaze and do a bit of dreaming.

1. 英雄双韵体（heroic couplets）：
A heroic couplet is a traditional form for English poetry. It refers to poems constructed from a sequence of rhyming pairs of iambic pentameter lines.
英雄双韵体是一种英国诗歌形式。每行五个音步（pentameter），每个音步有两个音节，采用轻音+重音的抑扬格（iambus）的格律形式，诗尾的押韵方式为aabb型。英语诗歌多数是以五音步抑扬格（iambic pentameter）的诗体形式写成。
