为了在11月份选民投票时获得更多的选票，很多候选人都积极与选民接触争取选票。但候选人与选民如此"亲密"接触实属罕见。
候选人与选民握手表示问候，是美国政治中行之已久的传统。最近美国佛罗里达州（Florida）一名餐馆业主似乎把这个传统发挥到了极致。
9月9日，欧巴马总统来到佛罗里达州匹尔斯堡（Fort Pierce）的“意大利大苹果比萨和面食餐馆”（Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Italian Restaurant），餐馆业主斯科特·范·杜瑟（Scott Van Duzer）看见欧巴马总统后一把抱起他，让总统顿时双脚离地，旁观者大吃一惊。

Campaign 2012: New Twist on “Pressing the Flesh”

Office seekers at all levels of U.S. politics will be spending the next two months meeting and greeting voters, but not many are likely to be greeted quite the way President Obama was on a recent trip to Florida.
Working the crowd by exchanging greetings and handshakes with supporters, known as "pressing the flesh," is a time-honored tradition in American politics, but a restaurant owner in Florida took that tradition to a new extreme when President Obama visited his pizza parlor on September 9.
To the amusement of his customers, Scott Van Duzer, owner of Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Italian Restaurant in Fort Pierce, Florida, enveloped the president in a hug and lifted him off the ground.
For many candidates seeking elected office in the November elections, connecting with the voters — although probably not usually so closely — will be an important part of the campaign.
