Jason Zukus（祝杰胜）是一名来自新泽西的大学生，目前正在美国驻北京大使馆文化事务处实习。

周日，我得到了很好的机会，代表美国大使馆出席北京的“2011亚洲、欧洲及美洲小学及中学生夏令营”的开幕式。作为使馆的代表，我得在仪式上向美国代表团代表授予学生设计的美国代表团旗帜。一名工作人员后来告诉我，他们中的许多人认为这是所有11个国家的旗帜中最好看的！

看来自亚洲、欧洲及美洲所有不同国家的学生如何为这个10天的长夏令营聚到一起，了解中国文化，非常有趣。虽然他们学习过一些中文，但他们并没有得到很多培训，且有一名中国工作人员担当口译员。在他的帮助下，同学们能够了解京剧、功夫和中国传统文化的其他方面。他们还有机会与所有其他国家的代表团进行互动并了解他们的不同背景。我真希望我在小学时也有这样的机会！

On Sunday, I got the great opportunity to attend the opening ceremony of the “Summer Camp for Asian, European, and American Primary and Secondary School Students 2011” on behalf of the U.S. Embassy here in Beijing. As the Embassy representative, I got to hand the student-designed U.S. delegation flag to the American delegation representative during the ceremony. As one of the staff later told me, many of them thought it was the best looking flag out of all of the 11 countries!

It was very interesting to see how students from all different countries in Asia, Europe, and America came together for this 10-day long camp to learn about Chinese culture. While they were learning some Chinese, they did not have very much training and had a Chinese staff member serve as an interpreter. With this help, the students are able to learn about Beijing Opera, Kung Fu, and other aspects of traditional Chinese culture. They also have opportunities to interact with all of the other country delegations and learn about their different backgrounds. I wish I had an opportunity like this when I was in grade school!
