3. 系表结构类及strike…as短语动词

⑴系表结构类as短语动词

①be famous as  作为…而闻名——与know as被动形式be known as同义。

例：Napoleon was famous as a soldier.    拿破仑以其军事才能而著称。

Lu Xun was famous as a great writer.    鲁迅以一位伟大的作家而著称。

Edison was famous as a great inventor.    爱迪生以一位伟大的发明家而著名。

Einstein was famous as a great scientist.   爱因斯坦以一位伟大的科学家而著称。

Mark Twin was famous as a children-story writer.   马克·吐温作为儿童故事作家而著称。

He is famous as the best local Chinese medicine practitioner. 他是著名的当地中医医生。

②be reputed as  被称为／被当作 →←be reputed to be 被认为是【repute另一动词用法】

→←reputation as… 以…身份而享有名望【repute的名词用法】。

例：He is reputed as the best surgeon in Paris.    他被认为是巴黎最好的外科医生。

He is reputed as the best local Chinese medicine practitioner.他被誉为当地最好的中医师。

→He was reputed to be a millionaire.    大家说他是个百万富翁。

SARS was reputed to be very contagious.    非典曾被认为是极具传染力的。

→She has a high reputation as a writer. 她是个非常有名望的作家。

He has a good reputation as a physician.    他是位享有名望的内科医师。

His reputation as a Romeo is quite undeserved.   他有罗密欧之称是名不副实的。

⑵strike sb. as 结构成句五型

“strike sb. as…”是由“strike…as”动词短语付诸具体运用而成的结构。之所以称之为结构，只因是“strike sb. as…”已形成了固定的模式：动词strike的宾语sb.必须是指人的名词或宾格人称代词，介词as的宾语也可随需要而变换——“strike sb. as…”中as后可跟五种不同形的宾语，所以有“strike sb. as 结构成句五型”之说。

该结构中动词strike是及物动词，但不是复宾动词，故as介词短语也就不是宾语补足语，它的意思是：“给…(某人)印象／让…(人)觉得”【If something strikes you as being a particular thing, it gives you the impression of being that thing.】；该结构中的as 是介词，意为“以…身份／作为…方式”。那么，as 短语的作用就是“以某种身份／方式给某人以印象”，这就是说，as短语是针对谓语动词strike而言，并非针对主语而言，故应看作方式状语。

①strike sb. as + 名词

例：This strikes me as malpractice.  我想这肯定是失职行为。

She strikes me as a very efficient person. 在我眼里，她是个很干练的人。

But he strikes me as a conscientious man. 但我感到他是个认真负责的人。

This struck her as a clumsy evasion.    她立刻感到这是何等笨拙的推诿之词。

She struck him as exactly the household angel he had long been looking for.

她正是他梦寐以求的那种可以作终生伴侣的安琪儿。【angel安琪儿(天使)喻指可爱之人】

②strike sb. as + being +名词【being可省略，便同①(+名词)】

例：He struck me as being a fool. 他给我的印象是一个傻子。

He strikes me as being an honest man. 他让我觉得是个诚实的人。

You struck her as (being) only a photographer. 你给她的印象只是个摄影师。

The old man struck people as (being) a miser.    那老头让人觉得就是一个守财奴。

③strike sb. as + 形容词

例：The request struck them as rather queer.    他们感到这个请求很奇怪。

But the issue still struck her as unimportant.    不过她觉得这个论题无所谓。

Their conversation struck him as rather commonplace. 他们的谈话他听来感到平淡无奇。

Her manner and conversation struck him as strange.  她的神态和言谈使他感到有些异样。

④strike sb. as + being +形容词【being可省略，便同③(+形容词)】

例：She struck me as being very practical. 她使我觉得她很实际。

He strikes people as being rather stupid. 他给人们的感觉是有些傻。

But the issue still struck her as (being) unimportant. 不过她觉得这个论题无所谓。

The room strikes you as (being) warm and comfortable when you enter. 

那房间你一进去就会感到温暖与舒适。

⑤strike sb. as + doing

例：The simple truth struck him as lightning. 这个简单的真理如电击般震撼了他。

At last the man struck her as cheating on her. 最后她觉得那个男人在欺骗她。

This activity strikes me as wasting our time.   这项活动在我看来是浪费我们的时间。

从上面例述可见，这“strike sb. as 结构的成句五型”中，在可省用“being”的前提下，实际只有三型——as后跟名词、形容词和动名词，这其中又以跟用形容词最为普遍，而动名词则很少用到。
