归纳odd与odds的用法
平时碰到odd和odds的情况还挺多的,下面来归纳一下
一:odd
1,奇数的(opposite: even偶数的)*odd number奇数
2,strange or unusual 反常的,怪异的
3,放在数字后面,相当于approximately
如:How old is she—seventy odd? 她多大年纪?七十出头?
He's worked there for twenty-odd years. 他在那里工作了二十多年。
二:odds
1,(事物发生的)可能性,概率,几率,机会
The odds are very much in our favour(= we are likely to succeed).我方胜算的几率极大。
The odds are heavily against him(= he is not likely to succeed).他成功的几率很小。
The odds are that(= it is likely that)she'll win.她有可能会赢。
What are the odds(= how likely is it)he won't turn up?他不会露面的可能性有多大?

2,it makes no 'odds(informal, especially BrE)used to say that something is not important没关系;无所谓;无差别
It makes no odds to me whether you go or stay. 你的去留与我无关。
3,odds and 'ends(BrE also odds and 'sods)noun[pl.](informal)small items that are not valuable or are not part of a larger set零碎;琐碎的东西;小玩意
