沪教版九上Unit5ActionReadingPeriod1教学设计

一、教材分析

    Unit5, Action Reading Surprises at the studio是沪教版九年级上册的阅读课。主要讲述了一个临时从观众席中被替换上场的普通女孩在一档电视智力竞赛节目中获得大奖,充满了意外的故事让学生通过略读和找读理解文章大意,并了解故事情节发展和人物的性格特征。从而提高学生的阅读能力。

二、学情分析

    九年级三班共44人,班里的大部分学生英语基础都比较差,且对英语学习不感兴趣,英语成绩平均分较低,高分少,40分以下的学生过多。因此在进行教学设计时,要注意分层教学。但班级仍有一部分学生在英语学习上比较积极,上课能很好地配合老师,课堂气氛也因此能得到改善。

三、教学目标

1. 知识与能力:

Students can master the main words and phrases, for example, director,artist, studio, be ahead of and so on;

      Students can get the main idea of the story         

2. 过程与方法:

Improve students’ reading ability: skimming and scanning

Enable students to analyze the plot of the story

3. 情感态度与价值观:

Develop students’ cooperation spirits

Encourage students to show their talent bravely if they get a chance.

四、教学重难点

1. 重点:

Students get the main idea of the story by skimming and scanning;

The meanings of the main words and phrases in the passage

2. 难点:

Enable students to analyze the plot of the story

    Teaching plan;  PPT;  Tape player

六、教学方法

    Situational approach; group work; task-based method

七、教学过程

Step 1 Greetings

Step 2 lead-in

Play a short video of the programme: The Voice of China to students, and ask them the following questions:

Q1: Where are these actors and actresses?

   They are in the studio.

Q2What are they doing now?

They are filming a TV programme.

Then show the title of the story on page 67 to students, and let them guess what are they going to learn today?

(possible answer :an interesting story in studio)

Step 3Warm-up

Firstly: have a quiz with the students.(详见PPT

ask the group leader to draw a star in their paper if anyone in their group answer the questions correctly

Secondly: ask students to answer the question: What do you know about making a TV programme?

Step 4 Before Reading

Firstly: let students finish the exercise A on P 66

Secondly: ask students to look at the picture and the title of the article on page 77, and complete Exercise B on page 66.

(for doing this, I would like to help students get the main background information of the story)

Step 5 While Reading

Firstly: Fasting Reading(skimming)

Ask students to read the article quickly and then put the following events of the story into correct order.

A. Angela did really well, and was soon ahead of the other two contestants.

B. The director asked for another new contestant.

C. Denise and her friend Angela went to TV studio to watch live TV quiz show.

D. The host of the quiz show, Lester Li, ran out onto the stage and started the show.

E. Angela wanted to be on TV and raised her hand.

F. Angela answered the last question correctly and won the prize.

G. Suddenly, one of the contestants passed out and fell across her desk.

H. make-up artist quickly put make-up on Angela’s face and brushed her hair.

Secondly: Second-Reading

Ask students to read the passage carefully, and then finish the Exercise D2 in page 69.

Step 6 After Reading

Let students read the passage again, and talk about the plot of the story, then fill in the blanks of the following passage.

Angela and Denise were watching a quiz show at the s________. Suddenly one of the c________ passed out. The d________ asked the audience who wanted to be on TV, Angela raised her hand. Then she was led o________ the stage and a m________ a________ rushed f________ to help her get prepared. Angela was r________ and had no trouble answering the questions. She was a________ of the others. When Angela just needed to answer six more questions to b________ the other contestants, Denise was too excited to keep s________. Soon there was just a s________ question left before Angela got the final v________. Did she succeed? Yes! Finally she was the l________ winner!

After that, check the answers to the questions to review the main plot of the passage.

Step 7 Group Work: role-play the story

Firstly, play the recording to students, let them read after the speaker, then invite some students to show their presentation to the whole class.

Step 8 Summary

Talk about the personalities of the characters in the text by answering the questions below:

Q1: Among the people in the passage ,who do you like best?

Q2: Why do you like him/her?

Then share sentence with students: just show your talent bravely if you get an chance .

If you get a chance, you should show your talent bravely.

九、作业布置

1. Finish the Exercises on page 68-69

2. Copy the new words and read the passage

3. In groups, present a play about filming of a TV programme,and we’ll enjoy it next class.

十、教学反思

本节课进步之处在于:能做到课堂以学生为主体,教学活动围绕学生展开,能注意到培养学生的阅读习惯,课堂活动分层次,大部分学生都有机会参与。

不足之处:课堂教学内容设计较多,后进生有可能跟不上节奏,再者,时间可能不够用,讨论环节不能充分进行。
