在面试快结束时，人力资源部的面试官问一位刚从德克萨斯农工大学毕业的年轻工程师：“你想要的起薪是多少？”

工程师说：“每年大约12.5万美元上下，具体取决于福利待遇。”

面试官说：“好吧。你觉得每年5周假期，14个带薪假日，全额医药和牙科保险，50%工资额的公司配送退休基金，以及每两年一辆公司租车。比如，一辆红色雪佛兰科尔维特。怎么样？”

工程师坐直了身子，说：“哇！你不是在开玩笑吧？”

面试官回答：“是的。但这玩笑是你先开始的。”

注：1）“德克萨斯农工大学（Texas A & M）”的英文全称是“Texas A & M University”。它的前身是“德克萨斯农业和机械学院（Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas，缩写AMC）。1963年改为现名，保留了原名中的“农业”开头字母A和“机械”开头字母M。2）“科尔维特（Corvette）”是美国雪佛兰（Chevrolet）汽车厂牌的一款豪华跑车。

Reaching the end of a job interview，the Human Resources Person asked a young Engineer fresh out of Texas A & M：“And what starting salary were you looking for？”

The Engineer said：“In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year，depending on the benefits package。”

The interviewer said：“Well，what would you say to a package of 5 weeks’ vacation，14 paid holidays，full medical and dental，a company matching retirement fund for 50% of your salary，and a company car leased every 2 years – say，a red Corvette？”

The Engineer sat up straight and said：“Wow！Are you kidding？”

And the interviewer replied：“Yeah，but you started it。”
