The Chapter of One Hundred Sentences

無念方能靜。靜中氣自平。氣平息乃住。息住自歸根。

Thoughtlessness creates tranquility.

Tranquility calms the Chi (氣）.

The calm Chi holds his breath.

Halting the breath reverts to the root (origin).

 

歸根見本性。見性始為真。萬有無一臭。地下聽雷鳴。

Returning to origin sees the inherent self, and seeing the natural self is the beginning of truth. There is no foul in a thousand things. The thundering hears from the ground.

 

升到崑崙頂。後路要分明。下山接鵲橋。送下至黃庭。

It rises to the top of Kunlun Mountain. The path that follows needs to be clearly defined. First, the Qi downs the mountain to connect with the magpie bridge. Then, finally, it is presented down to the yellow court ( 黃庭 Huang Ting).

 

庭中演易卦。五十五堪均。氣卷施四大。坐臥看君行。

Inside the court, the art of I-Ching carries out. The sum of fifty-five is well balanced. The Qi moves and distributes in all directions, either sitting or lying down.

 

此是築基理。孤陰難上升。更要鑄神劍。三年煉己成。

The above is the fundamental principle. It is hard to raise sole Yin. One needs to forge an Excalibur. It takes three years to complete forging.

 

念正情忘極。臨爐不動神。覓買丹房器。五千四八春。

It is with righteous thoughts all emotions will vanish. Even at the furnace, the spirit is firm and non-movable. To seek and buy the appliance for the Dan Fan( 丹房-the Dan laboratory), it is the time five thousand forty-eight.

先看初三夜。蛾眉始見庚。要見庚花現。反向蛾眉尋。

First, one is to observe the third lunar night. Then, the crescent shape sees the Geng ( 庚-refer to element gold). In reality, if one wants the Geng flower to appear, one needs to search the crescent first.

 

如此採真鉛。口口要真傳。火候從初一。一兩漸漸生。

To gather the actual lead, it needs proper oral transmission. The smelting time starts on the first day of the month. After that, a tael of weight grows gradually.

 

十六退陰符。兩兩不見增。沐浴逢雞兔。防失防險傾。

After the sixteen of the month, the phase of Yin Fu（陰符）is receding. There is no sign of increasing the weight of the tael. It is time for bathing during the month of the rooster( August) and the rabbit (February). It should be cautious to prevent loss or perils.

 

金氣自薰蒸。體上汗淋淋。十月胎方就。頂門要出神。

The golden Qi evaporates spontaneously. The sweat is profusely dripping from the body. Then, at last, the immortal fetus terms at tenth months and wants to leave at the top door ( Fontanelle).

 

還須面壁九。飛身上玉京。三段功夫訣。明明說與君。

One still needs to face the rock to meditate for nine more years. Then, after, one will be able to fly to the capital of the immortals. The above, the three secret code steps disclose to you.

 

我今親手釋。成書體訣行。傳與修行子。玉金之法程。

Now, I interpret and write the secret code down. Then, finally, it is to pass on to the adept the Jade and Gold pathway.

 

 

 

丹訣真師授。須與神仙論。更有妙丹法。予恐太洩輕。

Even though you receive the secret codes from the true master, you still need to discuss them with the immortals. There are also miraculous methods. It is afraid they can leak out.

 

彈絃并鼓瑟。夫妻和平情。霞光照曲水。紅日出崑崙。

Harmonization is essential, like strumming a chord, beating the drum, or playing the zither, and like husband and wife. In nature, it is like the rays of morning or evening shining onto a winding stream or the red sun coming out from Kun-Lun.

 

恍恍并惚惚。杳杳與冥冥。此中真有信。信到君必驚。

One is quite confused and stunned. It is far away and from nowhere. But, in it, there is a signal. When the signal appears, you will be frightened.

 

一點如朱橘。要使水銀迎。絶不用器械。顛倒法乾坤。

It is dot-like with vermillion pigment ( lead). So naturally, the mercury will welcome the lead. There is no assistance from any instrument. It is only the method of reversing Qian( 乾 )and Kun( 坤 ).

 

世人不悟理。三峯採戰行。也有說三關。也有入爐臨。

The general public does not understand the reason. People use the technique of San-Feng(三峯）to fight.They talk about the three gates. They talk about entering the furnace.

 

又以口對口。醜穢不堪聽。一切有為法。俱是地獄人。

They talk about mouth to mouth. It is obscene, and you don't want to hear. All the conditioned occurrences (Dharmas) are the hellman.

 

有等執著者。信死清淨真。髮黃并齒落。鵲體似鶴形。

Some are stubborn, and they believe purity is the truth to the day they die. Their hairs turn yellow; their teeth fall, their body like a magpie, and their body shape like a crane.

他未知吾道。分明假作真。觀天之大道。執天之大行。

They don’t understand our true Dao doctrine.  They clearly believe that the fade is real.  If one observe the way of heaven and maintain its doing.

 

月挂西川上。霞臨南楚濱。三日前為晦。陽中之純陰。

The moon hangs high in the western river.  The red cloud arrives at the bank of the southern Chu (楚) River. Three days before is called Hui (晦 the last day of a lunar month). The pure Yin within the Yang ().

 

三日後為朔。陰中之陽精。亦如逢冬至。和景好陽春。

Three days after is called Shuo (朔 the first day of the lunar month).  It is the pure Yang within the Yin ().  It meets with the winter solstice.  The scenery is beautiful and lively.

 

八日是上弦。一問卯兔門。十六方為姤。廿三是酉門。

The eighth day is the first quarter moon, and the name is the Mao(卯)-Tu(兔rabbit)door. The sixteenth is the Gou(姤 Trigram) and the twenty-third day is the You(酉）door.

 

以此參易卦。方知大道真。百句章中字。字字要尋文。

This way to research for I-Ching trigrams, then, one knows the truth of Dao. The words in "Hundred Sentence Chapter" need to be digested, and understand the meaning of each word.

 

此書雷將守。得者慎勿輕。
