For an extravagant boy who once dreamed to become the minister of
education, this tremendously sharp ted talk made me feel like
becoming a comedian instead of an educationist. Sir Ken Robinson
from Shakespeare’s hometown captures the creativity-alienating part
of education through his sharp and unique humour. Education is a
subject that can possibly create the future – this is a reason of
why I respect the teachers. But the modern education systems
throughout the planet have problems of this and that. In Sir
Robinson’s ted talk, he mentioned one about the murder of
creativity. Many students have this concept – being wrong is the
worst thing we can do. Sir Robinson points out that being wrong may
not be being creative, but “if you’re not prepared to be wrong,
you’ll never come up with anything original” – this is the most
useful information I’ve gained from the video. Anyway, sharp ideas
are sharp ideas, and they can’t always avoid being idealistic. I
think that this talk should have given more detailed solutions to
the problem mentioned in it. And also, too much humour in it makes
it more likely to be an impressive extravaganza – some xzhumour is
incomprehensible to me, at least.

This talk is really humorous. The speaker talked about education
and creativities. He thinks every child is a born artist. Education
killed their creativities. People today need children’s
creativities to make our life better. He used many jokes to explain
his idea. I think he is a really clever man who can give these
kinds of talks and let the audiences laugh. I don’t especially like
this topic but I like this talk very much. I learned that I cannot
just focus on my study. I need to learn something else.

Today, I watched a TED talk called School Kills Creativity. This
talk really astonished me. Creativity is really an important part
in our life, because we need creativity to develop new things so as
to make a better life. But, actually school is producing a range of
people with the same mind. And the speaker said something which I
would never forget, it’s mainly about: if you don’t dare risks, you
would never get success. I think I can’t agree more. We mustn’t be
afraid of changing, we need to be active all the time, to find the
‘cheese’ in our life.

In our opinion, schools are established in order to
investigate and enhance our innate talent and
creativity. But in his talk, Sir Ken Robinson’s opinion, in huge
contrast to ours, precisely pointed out that schools are
annihilating our talent and relativity. And furthermore, the
current education system is becoming a menace of the development of
the society, from his point of view. His point even seems a bit
odd, or even extreme. The aim of education is to educate people who
can adapt to the society, which means that schools will only
teach subjects which are useful for future career, for instance,
mathematic and language. We've been educated to become good
workers, rather than creative thinkers. But the current
circumstance is that students’ creativity is being eroding and the
degrees of traditional subjects (such as these subjects mentioned
above) are not that valuable as before. The reason is that the
society requires workforces of the new age—— highly creative,
curious developers, engineers, designers and artists. But the fact
is that students with restless minds and bodies -- far from being
cultivated for their energy and curiosity -- are ignored or
even stigmatized. "We are educating people out of their
creativity," Robinson says. It's a message of talent crisis. His
opinion is that school should support every single child to develop
their most prominent talent. I am having a
positive attitude towards his idea, but his idea seems impractical
in underdeveloped and developing societies. It is rather regardless
of the economic situation the student is in. Some societies have no
ability to provide financial support towards educational
reinvention. The potential of his idea must be reconsidered, while
we still need to work hard on providing a creativity-encouraging
and enterprising society structure and culture.
