1.      Well, firstly the title caught my eyes because I think that the ultrasound surgery is far from me. The speaker mainly talks about that the ultrasound surgery. First of all, he gives an example to show people the function of the ultrasound, seems like it can hurt something inside without cuts. There are also many clinical tests about the ultrasound surgery and the surprising thing is that the patients recovered. It’s absolutely amazing, isn’t it? Obviously it will be very useful particularly in the medical community. So I love the talk very much because I think that the talk is very interesting and I’m very curious about the novelty. I hope that the scientists will invent more useful things to help people.

2.      This talk is told by Yoav Medan about supersonic surgery. After watching this show, I thought that nowaday, the technology is so advanced, we even can use super sonic to have an operation, a no-wound-union operation! This video shows us some truly operation. On is about John. He has finished this super sonic operation safty. He has a tumour in his brain. No damage outside, no spirit damnify, no anything, he turn back to a healthy man again. Another example is about PJ, who is a 78-year-old farmer. He has a tumour in his butt. He can’t do farm works any more, and even couldn’t sit without a cushion! He first tried radioactive remedy, but it doesn’t work. After the super sonic operation, he can ride the horse and do farm works. So I really think that this kind of technology is useful and it should be developed. It well be helpful to people.

3.      This video is about using super sonic for treatment. In the video, there is a historian who had brain tumor, but the treatment saved him. The best thing for the treatment is that it can cure people without hurting them. I really like this super sonic treatment. But I think this video is very complicated to understand.

4.      I must acknowledge that this ultrasound surgery—healing without cuts talk is very helpful and important. This technology helps people to avert some disease which is very dangerous to us. I like it very much; it is a huge top of the science and the medical science. It talks about two successful examples. They are cured by the ultrasound surgery and it saves so many people’s lives. It also makes our life more comfortable and safe. It really makes my blood boil when I know that many people will not die if they use this technology. So anyway I think this talk is pretty good.

5.      Have you ever imagined a surgery without using surgical knife? This seems absolutely impossible before. But Yoav Medan, who works on MR-guided focused ultrasound technology, does complete a surgery without any knife. I watched his TED talk and am impressed by the thrilling potential of this kind of non-invasive surgery technology with the assist of ultrasonic. During his talk, Yoav Medan shares an anecdote about a technique that uses MR technology to find trouble spots and focused ultrasound to treat cancerous growths such as tumours. In my opinion, this kind of non-invasive remedy of cancer and similar diseases may be the appropriate remedy in the future. It is a good alternative besides traditional gamma knife and traditional surgery conducted by hand and knives. Furthermore, it is able to avert infection and the utilization of addiction-producing anesthetics. Nevertheless, owing to the extensive experiential, technological and financial prerequisites, most doctors and physicians in outskirts or away from urban are compelled to forfeit this illuminating and revolutionary technology. I hope this technology can be popularized in order to remove and eliminate pain and disease from a wider range of patients, to be candid.

6.      I must acknowledge that this talk illuminated a dark part of my brain – I feel as if I had just gone through a kind of surgery mentioned in it. I’d like to first focus on the “focused ultrasound”. As it has mentioned in the video, focused ultrasound can heat or compel force onto/into a very spot. Many pioneers in the past tried to use this technology to operate noninvasive surgeries – but they failed. Now Yoav and a dozen other scientists combined the ultrasound technology and the MRI (Vision-enabled magnetic resonance imaging) and finally they created what is mentioned in the talk – a kind of noninvasive surgery. So what are the advantages of this new-born treatment? This is exactly what I’m going to talk about next. As I know many people fear the gruesome invasive surgeries. Now this noninvasive surgery produces a concise and painless treatment – you can stay awake during the whole operation. Another disadvantage of the old invasive surgeries is the time people need to recover. The noninvasive surgery can eliminate this problem from the patient’s agenda – as I have known from the two anecdotes Yoav talked about, this surgery leaves no cut, which means it needs no time to recover. Finally, this new-born treatment can technically become the remedy for inability of writing legibly or living independently, pain (in any part of the body) or even cancer. The only disadvantage is the money that is needed – many people can’t afford to receive the treatment. I believe that the noninvasive surgery operated through focused ultrasound can dispose of the economical and emotional burden given by the patients to their family, community or more, the society. “Walking the walk is better than talking the talk” said China’s new Chancellor – so I hope this treatment can be soon put into real action and save more lives.

7.      This weekend, I watched a TED talk which called: Yoav Medan: Ultrasound surgery -- healing without cuts. It’s about using ultrasound to cure the illness in people’s brain. In my opinion, it’s a great idea, because it needn’t use some dangerous and inconvenient skills to treat the problems in people’s brain. Compared to the way of opening patient’s skull, the patients can suffer less from this treatment of ultrasound. The process of treating can be much easier and safer as well-all you have to do is to use the mouse to click a button on a specific equipment, to let the ultrasound hit accurately the target in the patient’s brain. I think this treatment needs to be developed, it is very important for the patients who suffer from the illness in their brain. And we need to work harder, to develop more worthwhile techniques to help the people who need help, and to make a better life for all the people in the world.
