Lead in: 

Hello, boys and girls. Today we’ll continue to learn Unit 1 reading. Before this class, I want to ask you some questions.Look at some photos of famous persons on the screen.Such as Yao Ming, Liu Xiang, Bill Gates and Michael Jordan and says: look at these photos. We have some famous persons here. Do you know their names? Bill Gates, Bill is his first name. Gates is his last name. While Yao Ming, Ming is his first name. Yao is his last name.

Before reading

For me, practice the following dialogue in pairs.What’s your first name?  My first name is … What’s your last name? My last name is …

Point to the numbered names. Read each one aloud along with the number that comes after it. Then say each number and ask to read the name before that number.

Tell Ss to listen to the tape and match the names with the telephone numbers.

Point to the blanks in the four telephone numbers. the last two numbers of each telephone number are missing.

Listen to the tape and then fill in these numbers. Listen to the tape carefully and complete the conversation.

Conversation 1

A: Hello. _______ your _____?

B: __________ Tom.

A: _______ your phone number, Tom?

B: It’s __________.

Conversation 2

A: Hi! ____ Ms. Miller.

B: _____, Ms. Miller! __________ Bob.

A: _______ your phone number, Bob?

B: ____ phone number? It’s _________.

While reading

1.Point out the sample answers: the L for last name next to Green, and F for first name next to Jack. Then have students finish the exercise on their own.  

2. Read the list of names in the exercise. Ask students to guess which names are first names and which are last names.

3. Check the answers.

Step3 Reading

We have 10 groups. Every group has a number. When I show the number card, thegroup must stand up and say the number loudly. Ready?  (Every time, T shows the Ss one card. The group must stand up.)Ss: Five./Seven./Three.

Part two.Now, this time, I’ll show you the number card, but the next number group must stand up and say the number loudly.  (T shows the Ss one card.) eg: T: (Show the card—2)Ss: Three. (Group Three stand up and say the number loudly)

Part three.play the game again, but this time, not the next group stands up, but the number before. eg: T: (Show the card—5) Ss: Four. (Group 4 stands up and read the number loudly)

Look at the picture that the children in the pictures are friends. And the messages tell the information of them. Look at the pictures and read the messages. Then match them with the pictures.read the messages again. Then circle the first names and underline the last names.

Work on 2c.Tell the students to match the names with the telephone numbers. Then find three pairs of friends in the name list.

After reading 

Make your own ID card

Show some different ID cards to the class, and try to enjoy them. Read the information on the ID cards from 3a, ask students to complete the sentences. fill in their own ID cards and write about themselves.

Self Check

Please write out the numbers given in Self Check 1, and then check the answers.

Please match the sentences in Self Check 2, then asks the students to make conversations with their partners. Then ask some pairs to act out their conversations.

Summary

In this class, we’ve done some listening and writing practice using the target language. And we’ve learned how to make inferences using the words.

Homework

This class,we have learned more about knowledge. So I prepared some homework for you .1.Make an ID card.

2. Sum up this unit, especially about how to talk with others politely.
