完型填空是一项综合性很强的题目。在平常练习中，学生觉得难度很大，往往错误较多，有的学生做的练习不少，但是效果不明显。而学生在做题的过程中，往往“一厢情愿”只思考文本字面意义，并依据意义填空。事实上，我们不管在做什么类型的试题，都应在解题的过程中，揣摩出题人的意图，设空的依据。而这一点在完型填空中尤为重要。因此，有老师曾经估计鼓励学生自己命制完型填空题。即使我们大多学生做不到这一点，但至少能帮助学生有效的练习，练有所得。以下，将以一篇完型为例，浅析完型的命题原则。
1.按上下文语境：如1，2，3, 4，5，20等
2. 词汇、短语用法。如12，16
3.按常识。如14
4.按语法分析。如13
5.按逻辑推理。如7，15, 17， 19
