The table indicates the proportion of national consumer expenditure on three kinds of items in five different countries – Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002.
We can see from the table that the kind of food, drink and tobacco occupied larger proportion of national consumer spending than other two types. More specifically, the percentage of the money spending in Turkey was 32.14%, the highest score. The second largest proportion was 28.91% which is represented by Ireland. The following were Span 18.80%, Italy 16.36% and Sweden 15.77%.
The table also shows the spending on clothing and footwear apparently. To be more precise, the consumer expenditure on clothing and footwear in Italy was the highest, which was around 9.00%. However, in Sweden this proportion was the lowest, with 5.40%. Ireland, Spain and Turkey had a similar percentage around 6%.
According to the graph, the third category (leisure and education) of national consumer expenditure accounted for the lowest percentage among three types. Again, Turkey has the largest spending percentage (4.35%), followed by Sweden, Italy and Ireland (3.22%, 3.20% and 2.21%, respectively). Spain became the last one (1.98%).
In conclusion, it can be clearly seen from the table that consumers in Turkey spend more on food, drink, tobacco and leisure, education than other countries.
