Useless to protest

50’ HKPN yacht disrupts Far East 26, J/80 start

Last night’s nightmare was forgetting my racing watch and being unable to start properly. Fortunately that wasn’t true for Sanya Yomovo, but perhaps I got someone else’s dream…

So it was Saturday afternoon and we were making a reasonable start on starboard tack, when Green Stone was seen trying to cross the line on port, exactly five minutes late. Bad move guys!

Half the fleet shouted “starboard!” and this 50’ cruiser tacked urgently… but, hey, I thought, that’s our water, as I bore away slightly to avoid a collision.  Loud comments then followed, mostly unprintable, as we found ourselves without any wind for a couple of minutes until our new HKPN friend managed to lumber away without saying a word.
