什么是分句性替代

分句替代词 so / not 替代整个分句的现象叫做分句性替代 (clausal substitution)。

A: Do you think he 'll come tomorrow? 你认为他来是在明天？

B: Yes, I think so. (so = that he ' ll come tomorrow)

对，我想是这样。

No, I think not. (not= that he' ll not come tomorrow)

不对，我想的不是这样。

A: Is there going to be a meeting tonight? 是有个会议安排在今晚吗？

B: I am afraid / believe/ expect/ fear / guess / hope / suppose so / not.

我想可能/相信/期待/恐怕/猜测/希望/想是这样/不是这样。

有时，分句替代词 so 可置于句首，起承接作用。

A: He's leaving for London tonight, you know? 他今晚要去伦敦，你知道吗？

B: So I've heard. 这事我听说了。

分句替代词 so / not 还可与从属连词 if 搭配，构成无动词条件分句 if so, if not。例如：

We are told that he will come tonight, and if so, our meeting will be held tomorrow. If not, there won't be any meeting tomorrow. (if so= if he comes tonight; if not= if he doesn't come tonight)

我们听说他回来是在今晚。如果是这样，我们的会议会是在明天。如果不是这样，就不会开会了。
