形容词和副词比较等级用于旬子当中便形成比较结构
(comparative construction)
英语比较结构最主要的有三种:
as
...
as
结构,
more
...
than
结构和
the
most结构。在讲比较结构的时候,还要把由某些限定词和代词的比较等级构成的比较结构包括进去
英语中有几个不定限定词和不定代词也有原级、比较级和最高级。它们是
many
/ much,
more,
most;
few, fewer,
fewest;
little,
less,
least
。它们用在句中也能形成比较结构。
1) ...as
...as.. 结构
这种结构的基本模式是:
as+
形容词或副词原级+
as-
分句。
John
is
as
bright
as
Bob. 约翰的智商不异于鲍勃。
John
behaves
as
politely
as
Bob
(does). 约翰彬彬有礼,不异于鲍勃。
This
parcel
is
as
heavy
as
that one. 这个包裹的重量不异于那个。
This
car runs

one. 这辆车跑得快,不异于那辆。
这种比较结构的否定形式是

就两人的精明程度进行比较,或者是
John, Bob
就两人的举止是否有礼貌进行比较。这是
as
...
as
结构最基本的用法。此外,带有
as
...
as
结构的句子也可能主语相同,而比较项目不同。

结构的另一种模式是:

用变体形式,调核落在名词上,从而名词的意义受到强调;用基本形式,调核落在形容词上,从而形容词的意义受到强调。试比较

"(the)+形容词/副词最高级+比较范围“结构
如果是三个或
个以上的人或物进行比较,就要使用形容词和副词的最高级。例如

Of

John behaves

由上述诸例可以看出,表示“最高级”的意义,通常都要有一个“比较范围"
表示比较范围可以用介词词组,如

也可用关系分句或非限定分句,如

比较范围在一定上下文中可以不表示出来。例如:

有些高级结构并不是和其他事物相比,因而也不把比较范围表示出来。
