      WHAT IS QUALITY? 

  As always, quality in wine is much discussed nowadays, but only a few can make a justfiable claim to the best quality. 

  The reputation of the grower is built on that of his vineyard. With grapes, the law of quantity versus quality shows that too much of the first damages the second. Rigorous pruning is, therefore, essential. 

  At harvest time, only the best is good enough. While the wines rest until they are ready for botttling, they are building their distinctive structure, to reach their true potential. Every VDP grower has his own style, so the range of top quality wines is enormous, from classically dry to nobly sweet. Some wines taste balanced early in life, others rely on years in bottle.
