English is the most popular language in the world. And it’s also the most widely spoken of all the languages. It is spoken as the first language in many important countries, such as the U.S.A, Britain, Australia, Canada. In India, although it’s not the mother tongue, it’s the most important official language. It has become an important international language now. And two thirds of the world’s scientists read in English. In many countries, people use it for business.

In our country, English is spoken as an important and useful foreign language. English is becoming more and more important.

书面表达：  The Differences between American English and British English

 

Some people may not clearly know the differences between American English and British English. Now let me tell you.

 

Generally speaking, American English is different from British English in spelling and pronunciation. Though written English is very similar in both Britain and America, oral English is quite different. Americans usually sound the “r” in words, but some speakers of British English do not sound the “r” in the words. As for the spelling differences, you can easily find them when you use a computer. Color is American spelling while colour is British spelling. These are also differences in some expressions. For example, you relax in a sitting room in Britain, but in a living room in America. You fill in a form in Britain, but fill out a form in America.
